November 29, 2011 RunKeeper Raises $10 Million From Steve Case, Spark Capital & OATV [Confirmed]

TheNextWeb and TechCrunch have just published posts confirming RunKeeper’s Series B financing. These posts come two weeks after we had first reported the South End company’s funding. The $10 million Series B funding was led by Bijan Sabet of Spark Capital with participation from OATV (previous investor in RK) and AOL’s cofounder and Chairman, Steve Case. RunKeeper has previously raised $1.5 million in funding to date.

“Jason Jacobs is a man on a mission. He’s completely possessed and his passion is infectious, as anyone who knows him will tell you,” said Bijan Sabet in a blog post.

The funding will be used to accelerate the development of their HealthGraph and continue building their 14 person team. We have also heard that RunKeeper is planning on upgrading their office space.

Boston talks about not having enough consumer plays. Well, here it is. RunKeeper and the Health Graph as a platform will change how people think of the Boston startup community.

Here is the original report on RunKeeper’s funding from two weeks ago.
